In-person workshop for adults on five consecutive Saturdays 10:00 to 11:30 am: February 5, 12, 19, 26, and March 5, 2022. (Make up snow days will be the following Saturday)
From the 1400s to the 1900s, letters were written in the old-fashion cursive handwriting in German-speaking Europe and North America. Learning how to read authentic, original documents can be helpful to people interested in the history of Germanic languages, German history, family history, Schwenckfeld and Schwenkfelder history, German literature, or just out of curiosity.
These interactive group workshops are led by Allen Viehmeyer, the Associate Director of Research, and use workbooks he has designed. Materials distributed include photos of original documents in our collections. A basic knowledge of German is not necessary but can be helpful.
Pre-registration for adult workshops is required by emailing allen@schwenkfelder.org or calling him at 215-679-3103 before Friday, January 28, 2022. $115 for Cursive workshop and materials.
