Tea and Textiles
with Caroline
Coming on Saturday, January 25 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm ET is our latest installment of Tea & Textiles, a series of textile programs via Zoom. This year’s theme is Rock, Paper, Scissors. We have three superb textile experts scheduled for you.
The cost of the lectures is $20 each, with all three for $50. A free bonus lecture comes with any purchase as well as a tea bag and recipe card (so that you really can have your tea with your textiles). In addition, your ticket purchase allows you to receive a recording link so that you may watch the program up to one month after the event.

Rock! Exploring Palampores
Kathy Staples, Independent Textile Curator, Scholar, and Author
Palampores, gorgeous 18th century painted cotton Indian textiles, were imitated by European and American quilters. What do rocks have to do with them? The beautiful flowering trees illustrated on palampores were depicted growing out of rocks!

Paper! Paper Samplers
Claudia Dutcher Kistler, Needlework Designer and Collector, Dutch Treat Designs

More Paper! Painted Paper Samplers
Candace Perry, Curator of collections, Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center
A special mini lecture at 3:30 comes with the purchase of any lecture. This year Heritage Center curator Candace Perry will discuss 19th century paper samplers—a completely distinct topic from Claudia’s. Paper samplers appear to have been painted on paper by Pennsylvania Dutch young women (and possibly young men also) and may not have ever been intended to be stitched.
