In-person workshop for adults on four consecutive Thursdays 6:30 to 8:00 pm: February 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2022 (Any snow makeup sessions will be the following Thursday)

From the 1400s to the 1900s, books were printed in old-fashion type fonts in German-speaking Europe and North America. Learning how to read authentic, original documents can be helpful to people interested in the history of Germanic languages, German history, family history, Schwenckfeld and Schwenkfelder history, German literature, or just out of curiosity.

These interactive group workshops are led by Allen Viehmeyer, the Associate Director of Research, and use workbooks he has designed.  Materials distributed include photos of original documents in our collections. A basic knowledge of German is not necessary but can be helpful.
